Distributed Backup Service (TSM)

At this time, TSM does not formally support any version of the Mac OSX operating system running on the newer Intel processor. Communication with the vendor has indicated that is scheduled to be available within the December 2006 - January 2007 time frame. Until this is fully supported by the vendor, ITS has tested several TSM client revisions and determined TSM 5.2.5 as the most stable on the Intel platform. Following a disk problem, an entire system was restored with this software; no problems were encountered. Users who have downloaded the TSM 5.3 client previously and have been performing backups prior to this information are strongly encouraged to contact backup@psu.edu to inquire about alternate migration strategies.
