1. First, make sure you have your TSM node name before starting these instructions.

2. Download and review the README file from http://ftp.aset.psu.edu/pub/tivoli-storage-management/maintenance/client/v5r4/Mac/

3. Verify that you have all the dependencies that are listed in the README file.

4. Go to http://ftp.aset.psu.edu/pub/tivoli-storage-management/maintenance/client/v5r4/Mac/ and fetch the .hqx package. Install the downloaded package that you have downloaded. The instructions are listed in the README file under the title "Installing the Client."

5. If you are upgrading from the TSM 5.2 client, you will want to read about some important changes listed on this web page: TSM Mac client migration .

6. Now the TSM client is ready to be configured. To begin, download the sample TSM User Preferences and the sample TSM System Preferences . Move them into the Library/Preferences/Tivoli Storage Manager folder. To read about other settings, please review the documentation .

7. Next, set your password by using the Penn State Portal . If you need help with this step, contact the ITS Helpdesk staff for assistance with adding the TSM channel.

8. Now, login to TSM by clicking on the "TSM for Administrators" application that is found in the Applications:Tivoli Storage Manager folder. Be sure that you are an Administrator for the machine and enter your Administrator User name and password to start the TSM client. Once you login to TSM for the first time you will not be prompted for your TSM password. In the future you will still be prompted for your Administrator password.

9. If you prefer to run a scheduled backup, send e-mail to backup@psu.edu and include your nodename and the scheduled time.

If you have additional questions, please send e-mail to backup@psu.edu .
