Report Navigation
ASET Communications coordinates publicity and outreach efforts as related to academic computing, research computing, and emerging technology services and resources. This role also serves as a liaison to the ITS Marketing and Communications (ITSMAC) group.
In January 2007, ASET Communications entered a pilot with ITSMAC. The over-arching goal of the pilot was to better connect what ASET and ASET Communications do on a more global level; outcomes have been shared with other ITS units, but will continue perhaps in the form of a wiki or blog. As a result of the pilot, ASET Communications will begin to report to the director for ITSMAC, effective once a CSS senior director is hired, per the recent mini-reorg. More details are found in Kevin Morooney's blog entry, Moving Forward.
ASET Communications also serves on a number of committees to ensure that ASET's services and initiatives are appropriately and well-represented in a variety of contexts. This year, committees included:
Nationally, ASET Communications has participated, and continues to participate in, the HighEdWebDev conference, held annually in Rochester, NY. This year, ASET Communications joined the HighEdWebDev planning committee, and is chairing/overseeing the poster session proposals for the October 2007 conference.
ASET Communications also produces and submits content for the annual Your Guide to ITS process and produces ASET's annual reports and thus the annual ITS Progress Report. In 2007, ASET Communications also had the opportunity to participate in the editorial process for the printed and online versions of the Computer Store's annual Back-To-School flyer and the JumpStart Guide.
Also this year, ASET Communications helped to organize and facilitate two pilot ASET "Birds of a Feather" (BoF) sessions. The BoFs were a direct result/outcome of ASET's retreat in December 2006. Plans are underway to resume the BoFs after the fall 2007 semester begins. More information is available via the ASET BoFs blog area, a temporary Web home until the BoFs become more officially organized.
