This is the message that was sent out to stakeholders:

Penn State WebAccess Update

On Wednesday, August 29, 2007, Information Technology Services will add a fourth Penn State WebAccess server to handle both browser access and Cosign filters that check cookies. The update will take place between 6:00 and 6:30 a.m., during the regularly scheduled maintenance window (5:00 a.m. - 7:00 a.m.). Intermittent outages for WebAccess-protected services may occur, but are expected to be no longer than five minutes at a time.

Since the various filters only look up the address records for webaccess.psu.edu when they start, server administrators will need to restart their respective Web servers to recognize the additional server. If a server is not restarted, then the filter will only contact the three original servers; however, authentication should still function.

The Information for Firewall Users Web page has been updated to reflect this information, although the DNS change won't be done until that morning. In addition, this information is noted on the WebAccess Developers' Web site.
