Troubleshooting Organization Unit Issues

Cannot add a machine to PSUComputers container

The PSUComputer container in the ACCESS domain is outside of an organization's OU. This container has special permissions applied to it that only allow administrative users in the DC-OU-Admin group to create computer objects in it. The only administrative accounts put in that group are accounts designated as the POCs for an organization.

Solution?

You can use a script located here that will do a bulk add of machines into an OU you designate. Or, precreate the computer by hand using the Users and Computers snap in from Microsoft.

Cannot move a machine from PSUComputers container to OU

The PSUComputer container in the ACCESS domain is outside of an organization's OU. This container has special permissions applied to it that allow only administrative users in the DC-OU-Admin group to create computer objects in it. The permissions are also setup so that only the user who created the account can move it from that OU.

Solution?

The administrator who created the computer account must move it to the correct OU, or select the correct option for adding the computer to the domain.
