E-mail On-the-Go: Getting Started

On-The-Go is a process designed to allow Penn State Access Account holders to receive e-mail on a handheld device. Currently, On-The-Go is in a test phase and it is only available to faculty and staff. Since On-The-Go is only in a test phase, users cannot expect 24/7 support. If you would like more information, please visit Emerging Technologies On-The-Go page.

  1. Go to the BlackBerry Web Client Web site specified by your wireless carrier's documentation. Please note that if you use a browser that is not supported by the site, a message will appear to indicate this.
  2. On the initial page, you will be prompted to enter your BlackBerry's PIN number and its IMEI or ESN number.
  3. Follow the steps required to create an account.
  4. Once the account is created, click the icon under "Edit" that is associated with the BlackBerry e-mail account. It is located at the right of the page. When the "General Settings" page appears, it is recommended that you change both the "Reply-To" and the "Auto BCC" fields to your Penn State e-mail address.
  5. Make sure to review all choices on the "General Settings" page, as there may be other changes you wish to make. Make sure to click the "Save" button to record the changes. Important Note: On the home page, there is an entry that read, "Add An Existing Email Account." Do not add your Penn State e-mail address to this list. Doing so will duplicate the service provided by On-the-Go without the spam filtering.
  6. After the Web client has been set up, send your Penn State Access Account userid and your Web client e-mail address to the ITS Help Desk staff at helpdesk@psu.edu.
  7. You will be notified via e-mail once the On-The-Go service configuration has been completed.
