Digital Content Management

Description

In his review of the Web 2003 presentation, Strategic Use of the Web at Penn State, the now retired Dr. Russell Vaught, Special Assistant to the Provost for Web Strategies and Associate Vice Provost for Information Technology, describes the continuum of content management systems already in place or needed at Penn State. Digital Content Management spans the range from simple templates and text document version control to sophisticated tools layered on a database designed to manage the creation, maintenance and augmentation of a variety of digital assets (e.g. text files, PDF documents, HTML, audio/video clips). To determine what may or may not be a good fit on this continuum, Emerging Technologies will implement and analyze several Content Management systems to determine if any or a combination of a few can fit within Penn State's existing authentication and authorization infrastructure and decentralized system for Web page creation.
