Podcasting

Description

Podcasting is a method for making multimedia content available on the Internet. Podcasting uses the "enclosure" feature of a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed to deliver this content to media player and "podcatching software" as well as personal listening/viewing devices. While most current podcast feeds provide audio content often in the form of MP3 audio files, the RSS format allows for other rich media formats and is not strictly limited to audio. The Podcasting project investigates the uses of the relatively new format in the areas of: multimedia notes for instructors; enhancing local media offerings; and audio/video blogging. During the fall semester in 2006, Penn State began a beta pilot with iTunesU, which made course materials, lecutures, seminars, atheletic updates, and other important information available to the University community. Please review the "Resources" for more information.
