A wiki is a web page that visitors can modify. The word "wiki" comes from Hawaiian and it means "quick." Thus, the implication is that a wiki provides a quick way to collaborate. The most well known wiki is Wikipedia. We are investigating the use of a variety of wikis and their uses in research and instructional collaboration. Our current test and hosted wikis are deployed on existing hardware on the ET Test network. Most of these are prototypes rather than finished products. By using these wikis ourselves, we gain valuable lessons and knowledge of best practices.

ET will host prototype wikis for evaluation by selected Penn State constituents and provide advice, best practices, and guidance based on our experiences.
ET is the primary provider of the prototype wikis.
