Penn State will be one of over 60 national and international research
institutions and networking organizations participating in the
Megaconference event scheduled for the Internet2 Fall meeting, October
11-13, 1999 in Seattle, Washington.The Megaconference is a project of
the Video Conferencing Subcommittee of the Internet2 Digital Video
initiative.

The Megaconference is a permanent, continuous multipoint H.323 Internet
video conference. The Megaconference event at the Internet2 Fall
meeting will consist of multiple sites collectively engaging in a live
demonstration of the capabilities of H.323 video conferencing. Each
participating institution/organization will have an opportunity to
address the conference participants, speak to their deployment of
H.323, and talk about and showcase H.323 applications at their site.
The event will begin at 9am PST (noon EST) and continue until 3pm PST
(6pm EST).

The Megaconference will be the largest H.323 multipoint conference
conducted to date, and will simultaneously be broadcast on the
Internet.

* The QuickTime4 broadcast is being hosted by The University of
Tennessee, Knoxville and will be available at
http://ali.apple.com/events/inet2.

* The MPEG1 broadcast is being hosted by Penn State University using
IBM's Video Charger and will be available at
http://pisces.ctd.anl.gov/IDVn/index.html.  (Note that IP Multicast
must be enabled by your network administrator to receive this
broadcast. Go to
http://www.software.ibm.com/data/videocharger/downloads.html  Download
the installation software and follow instructions on above page. There
will be a test broadcast running all the time. Connect to
http://pisces.ctd.anl.gov/IDVn/index.html and click on i2Dvn Master
Schedule in upper left corner. Then choose "PSU - MegaConference Test")
