    Configuring Clients

The instructions below provide configuration information for some of the popular clients used within the Penn State community.

Please note that these instructions are provided as a guideline. If you update your e-mail client or Web browser, the instructions might not follow exactly as they are outlined below. Please read carefully the options presented to you via a particular client/application before taking the recommended steps below. In some cases, the steps outlined might be similar to how a client/application should be configured, but not exact.

In any case, the following configurations apply for every client:

    • LDAP server: ldap.psu.edu
    • Search base: dc=psu,dc=edu
    • Port number: 389 (this number is usually set by default)

For specific configuration instructions for a variety of clients, please visit the ITS Knowledge Base (KB) and use the search criteria LDAP.
